Cats Love High Places. This Is Why.
If you own a cat, you have probably found your pet resting comfortably on the highest shelf in your home. If you can't figure out why cats do this, read on to find out.
Cats Love To Observe Everything
All cats, regardless of whether they are domestic or still living in the wild, are both predators and prey. Because of this, they instinctively search for high places in order to observe the world below to find other animals to prey on and to stay safe from larger animals that could hunt them for food. While in a domestic setting it is very difficult for a cat to become somebody's dinner, except for a random dog, their instinct still compels them to climb on your refrigerator to hunt that bothersome mosquito.
Keep Your Cat Happy With A Cat Tree
Let's face it, cats love to climb, and not just for hunting, but as a way to keep themselves active and stimulated. So, if you own one kitty, or three, installing a cat tree will keep them busy and away from your expensive furniture.
Shelves Work Too
If a cat tree isn't in your plans, shelves are also a great way to keep you cat happy and off the top of your fridge. Place the shelves on your walls at different heights for a great kitty challenge. And remember to keep valuable trinkets away from them, so they you don't end up picking the pieces of your Aunt's precious antique sculpture off the floor.
